In honor of the season premier tomorrow night. Alexa the cousin here! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, I've been adjusting to life as a graduate student and weather in Pennsylvania. So I read the comic for this about 4 or 5 years ago; not too long before the show started or right around that time. I really enjoyed it, got somewhat along (not that far), and then forgot about it for a few years. Then everyone started getting into the show and I did some research into it. The comics and the show diverge hugely pretty early on, so don't go in expecting canon compliance. However, I do like what they've been doing with the show and they seem to have stayed pretty true to most of the characters' personalities. And nothing beats the growling of zombies.
Andrew Lincoln (aka Andrew Clutterbuck) loses his English accent and adopts a passable Kentucky accent for the show as a sheriff leading a revolving door of a group. There are some memorable characters, Michonne to name the least. In both the comics and show, Michonne kicks serious butt. No spoilers here, just a general recommendation for both the comics and the show. Since the enterprise has been so successful, Tell Tale Games has made a game, a season 2 for the game, and an DLC (downloadable content) for it and those games are also excellent. They don't follow the main group, they follow other individuals caught in the same zombie apocalypse and allow the player to make important decisions because it isn't just about surviving, it's about living. (Haha, living in a zombie game).
I would like to end this post by pointing out a crucial difference between the t.v. show and the comics (which almost makes me like the show more.)
